Summary:
For Ice Age: Collision Course, one of the primary tasks was to create a few landmarks for the viewers to keep track of as our cast travels throughout the film. The "Hole-y" Mountain got some serious damage from a meteor shower and served as a backdrop for 5 sequences, along with the BG mountain ranges and the Glacier.
Techniques:
This was a camera projection that was placed onto models adapted from the previz department. I re-modeled those assets to work for multiple different camera angles to create a mix of 2D and 3D elements that would allow for orbiting around this set to accomodate the different views and lighting scenarios that future sequences would need.
